to your computer, make sure your printer and computer are powered off and unplugged.
1 Use a parallel cable that supports bidirectional
communication (IEEE 1284-compatible), such as Lexmark P/N 1329605.
Note: If you are using Windows 98, you can use a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable. For help, refer to the instructions in your printed User's Guide.

When you raise the front cover, the print cartridge carrier moves to the loading position.
If the Power light is on, continue with step 4. If not, check your connections.

To install the printer software, follow the steps for your operating system:
Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0:
1 Make sure your computer is on and Windows is
running. IMPORTANT: If Windows displays a message indicating your printer has been found, select Cancel. If the Update Device Driver Wizard appears, select Cancel.

into your CD-ROM drive.

3 From an OS/2 prompt, type the letter of your CD-
ROM drive, followed by :\setupos2 (for example, d:\setupos2), then press Enter.
4 Click Install Drivers and Documentation. Click
